Argyle sock porn

Here is some of my argyle collection. All designed by Alex Kabbaz and made by Bresciani.

Since we can't post photos on the forum i'll give a link to these beauties from my blog.

What do you think guys, beautiful aren't they? Are they classic Ivy?...if not, tell me what classic Ivy argyles are.

Re: Argyle sock porn

Thanks for the link to your blog, you’ve got some amazing clobber there Shooey.
The pictures of the three/four aspects make a good point about longer socks. I must admit that, personally I’ve never been keen on Argyle pattern socks, but I have definitely moved on from wearing plain grey or navy blue socks which were once my go to. These days, in Autumn/Winter I’m going for simpler outfits with plain, rather than patterned, garments. Socks and scarves provide an opportunity to insert a bit of colour and personality into an otherwise low key look.  My current preference is for socks with horizontal colour stripes, I haven’t gone for any luxury brands yet. But when you’ve got all the clothes you need and more besides, you can start to spend a bit more on accessories like socks.

Flatsix: thanks for sharing about your preferences, interesting.

Once upon a time, all l wore was navy socks; I bought 100 pairs, all the same sock. These days l love shadow stripes, argyles and all types. Love linen socks too. Luxury  sox are awesome.

Re: Argyle sock porn

I like the blue and I like the green.

These designs remind me of the old French made Dore-Dore -- which were always more of what I'd call a "city argyle" sock.

By the way -- not having photos sucks.  Grateful that the site is still up as I can't be arsed to go elsewhere, but it'd be nice if one could see photos.

Re: Argyle sock porn

I used to buy argyle socks from Burlington or Falke. I even went to the Falke factory once when I was passing through Germany. Back then I was more interested in buying running socks and Falke were the best I found.
As a teenager argyle socks was a thing for a short period but they had to be worn with decent shoes. No trainers and I was going to write no desert boots but I think I may have done that combination as a kind of late mod thing.
From above I would choose the green first and then the blue.

Robbie,

Yes, I too remember the Eighties argyle with loafer look. Often worn with faded 501's and a pastel blouson.

Burlingtons always had great colour combinations but were pretty flimsy for an expensive sock.

Re: Argyle sock porn

I remember it was a thing in the Ivy Shop Richmond in the 80's that if you bought pretty much a full outfit, jacket, trousers, shirt ( maybe) shoes, they'd give you a free pair of Burlingtons of your choice from their stock, also Harringtons in Guildford use to do the same and 1 or 2 other shops I'd used over the years, never got any free socks when I first shopped in the IS in late 60's/early 70's as I could only ever afford a single item be it a shirt , sweater or shoes !

Re: Argyle sock porn

Shopping at the Squire shop there were times when I could only afford socks, but I had to buy something. I even did the black sebago- red sock look with plenty of sock showing. I still do the red sock/ black shoe at weddings. Funerals black socks.

Re: Argyle sock porn

Burlington had that annoying metal logo 'stud' but they used to do some good argyle patterns

Shooey says:
The green is probably the best of the lot closely followed by the grey/black/red argyle. The purples are also great. I need to stock up on more of these colours, will order 6 pairs of each next time.
